Certification

All certification fees are currently paid by Arlington Public Schools.

SP2 Certification

Students in Auto I are required to take the Mechanical Safety Certification course offered by SP2.org

Students in Auto II are required to take the Pollution Prevention Certification course also offered by SP2.org

Students in Auto III are required to take the Ethics Certification course also offered by SP2.org.

ASE Entry Level Certification

ASE offers end of course exams in the following content areas: MLR (maintenance light repair), and AST (automotive service technician). All Auto II and III students will take either the MLR or AST certification test. Students who pass the exam will receive ASE Entry level Certification in MLR or AST. ASE Certification

Students who score high on the MLR exam may be eligible to take the industry recognized ASE Technician Certification exam in that content area. Certification in all 8 ASE content areas earns the title of ASE Master Certified Technician. All certifications are valid for 5 years at which time a recertification exam can be taken.
