Internships

During the school year, students that participate in AYES have the opportunity to visit/shadow several of our local automotive dealerships to see how they operate and to meet people in the industry. Then in April/May, students will participate in our interview day at the Career Center where they will get an individual interview with all our participating dealers for paid summer internships. Interns will work and learn with a Master Technician while getting paid. Intern pay is set at 9.00 per hour for the first year, and 10.00 per hour for the second year. When the student graduates high school, they can either continue their education by enrolling in a post secondary automotive program for a degree in Automotive Technology, or work full time at the dealership where they will get manufacturer specific training. Most dealerships will work with the students, allowing time off from work to further their education. Some dealerships offer financial assistance with the student’s education expenses.
