Arlington Tech student’s research published in Marine Mammal Science journal

Sheel Shah, a junior enrolled in the Arlington Tech program at the Arlington Career Center, was recently published in Marine Mammal Science Journal alongside his mentor, Dr. Changqun Zhang and a team of researchers from the University of Texas, Department of Marine Biology.

• Sheel worked closely with Dr. Zhang and his team to research AI dimension extraction of porpoises.

• He is noted as a contributor for data curation, investigation, and software in the article, “Computer vision-assisted photogrammetry and one image 3D modeling in marine mammals.”

• Sheel states that he is appreciative of the project-based learning opportunities that the Arlington Tech program provides its students inside and outside of the classroom. He also expresses his gratitude to Mr. Jeff Elkner, a DE Computer Science instructor at ACC, for being instrumental in connecting him with Dr. Zhang and the research team at the University of Texas, and for always being supportive of his interests.
