Bird Houses for Earth Day

The Career Center wants to thank our outstanding volunteers Ned Howenstine, Wesley Mills, Leonard Rogers, John Rogers, and Ronald Knipling. These fantastic volunteers started at Bluemont Park in the fall and taught ACC PEP students about wrens and chickadees by examining the types of nests each bird builds.  Then for about 6 weeks in winter, they worked in the old carpentry lab to build houses.  The volunteers supplied all of the materials. We got approval from Alonso Abugattas, Arlington’s Natural Resources Manager to put the houses up in Barcroft Park.  On Monday April 22nd, Earth Day 2019, PEP students and our volunteers placed these handmade birdhouses in Barcroft Park. Our volunteers not only help Arlington Public Schools but the whole world!
