The Arlington Career Center would like to congratulate the following employees on being named Teacher and Support Employees of the Year:
Teacher of the Year – Mr. Micah Stein-Verbit
Mr. Micah Stein-Verbit is the current coordinator of the Program for Employment Preparedness (PEP) at the Career Center and has been a teacher in Arlington Public Schools for the past 17 years. His colleges describe him as an invaluable member of their team whose leadership and dedication has led to the expansion of PEP within the Arlington community. In their words, “he continually seeks out the most current thinking on educating students with disabilities, in fact, he leads the charge toward an inclusive experience for all persons”.
A-Scale Support Employee of the Year – Ms. Yesenia Martinez
Ms. Yesenia Martinez works as a Bilingual Family Resource Assistant at the Career Center and has worked in Arlington Public Schools for the past 15 years. Ms. Martinez helps support all students and families in need of Spanish language interpretation on a daily basis, and has a special relationship with the HILT Institute and Teen Parenting programs at the Career Center. According to one of her colleagues, Yesenia’s “empathy and genuine interest [are] palpable” which helps students to “know she truly cares about them”.
G-Scale Support Employee of the Year – Ms. Ginny Barrow
Ms. Virginia “Ginny” Barrow is an Education Administrative Coordinator at the Career Center and has worked as an employee of Arlington Public Schools for 29 years. Ms. Barrow is described by her colleagues as “without question, one of [the Career Center’s] most dedicated and essential staff members”. Ms. Barrow has worked at the Career Center for 13 years and ensures that the front office (and in turn, the Career Center as a whole), runs smoothly every day.
