As we start our year in a virtual learning model, you can use this page to access the most recent information from the Arlington Career Center.

Connecting to your Classes

  1. Go to the Canvas site through MyAccess (myaccess.apsva.us/portal) or the Canvas link (apsva.instructure.com)
  2. Go to your class Canvas course using the Courses option in the menu: Canvas menu with circle around the courses icon
  3. Connect to the class meeting through the Teams link provided

Beginning of the School Year Information

  • Back to School Night will be held virtually on Wednesday, September 30 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Families will have the opportunity to virtually visit with each of their student’s teachers. More information will be shared as it is available.
  • School Meals will continue to be provided throughout the year at designated school and community sites. The Arlington Career Center is one of the meal distribution sites this year. The Summer Meal Program has been extended by the USDA through Dec. 31. All students 18 and under will continue to receive free meals at all sites. Families should still complete a Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. Please read the September 3 News Release or visit the Meal Services webpage for more information about where to pick up meals in your neighborhood.

  • School Talk August 31: Device distribution for new students without devices
  • Arlington Career Center Beginning of the Year School Talk
  • Virtual Town Hall Meetings: The Arlington Career Center will hold two virtual town hall meetings during the week of August 31. The first meeting, presented in English, will be held on September 1 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. A second meeting, presented in Spanish, will be held on September 2 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. More information can be found on the Arlington Career Center website calendar, and in the School Talk email (text linked above).
  • Virtual Orientation will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 9:00 – 10:30 am. Students will receive an invitation to join their orientation meeting from their CC Support teacher via their Canvas inbox. They will also receive links from their period 1A and period 2A class teachers to practice joining in on class sessions. A School Talk message was sent on Wednesday September 2 that contains links to join a general virtual orientation session (in English or in Spanish) for students who are unable to view their invitation in Canvas. Arlington Public Schools Parent Academy

  • The Arlington Public Schools Parent Academy offers parents and guardians of children attending schools in Arlington learning opportunities on a wide variety of subjects to support the academic, social and emotional development of children, such as:
    • Child development
    • Student achievement
    • Wellness and mental health
    • Parent advocacy
    • Educational programs
    • Internet safety
    • Personal or family growth
    • Supports and opportunities for second language learners
    • Social issues of importance to parents and families
    • Countywide events and information nights, including: Kindergarten, Middle and High School Information Nights, College Night, and the Summer Activities Fair

  • Provide the following information:
    • Student’s First Name and Last Name
    • Student ID if possible
    • Reason for absence
    • Identify yourself and provide a call back phone number
  • Please contact the teacher for missing work or visit their Canvas page.

Office Hours

  • While we are in the virtual learning model and throughout any hybrid instruction this year, teachers will have weekly office hours on Mondays. Below is the schedule of office hours at the Career Center by department. Students should access office hour meetings via their course Canvas pages. Visit the Virtual Office Hours page for a detailed schedule.

Student Device Information

Return to School Updates

  • APS Superintendent of Schools Dr. Francisco Durán will continue to provide weekly updates to students and families. More information about the 2020-21 school year and the return to school updates can be found on the APS website.

Registration and Change of Address Information

  • Families that have recently relocated to another address in Arlington are now able to change their address by submitting their proof of Arlington residency documents online. More information is available through the APS website.
