ACC’s PBL Scholars Raise Over $1000 for Cancer Research

Arlington Career Center students hosted their inaugural Winter Walk Fundraiser to fight against cancer on Friday, February 9th. The PBL (Project Based Learning) Scholars provide members with career exploration opportunities in the field of research, and they recently partnered with Johns Hopkins University to support teen cancer research and awareness.

  • The PBL Scholar Ambassadors visited each homeroom to promote the Winter Walk Fundraiser and pre-register walkers for the event. Participating classes and/or individual walkers were encouraged to donate at least $1 or more per walker, with an added incentive for the groups who raised the most funding or the groups/individuals who finished the course with the fastest time.
  • Members and community volunteers mapped a course around the perimeter of the school, which included a series of timed obstacles and challenges.
  • The event was an overwhelming success, with over $1000 in donations raised for Johns Hopkins Medical University!

Many thanks to ACC staff and community for their generosity and a special thank you to the PBL Works Team and PBL Scholars sponsor, Dr. Miriam Thomas.
