Arlington Career Center • Celebrating 50+ Years of Career & Technical Excellence

CTE at ACC: A Legacy That Keeps Growing

Career & Technical Education (CTE) Month is an annual nationwide celebration that takes place in February. During this month, we recognize:

  • The importance of Career and Technical Education (CTE) in preparing students for college and careers.
  • The achievements of CTE programs, students, educators, and partners at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Advancing students through specialized and skilled career awareness, career exploration and career preparation programs, industry credentialing exams, dual enrollment, CTE student leadership, and work-based learning opportunities
  • The broad impact CTE has on communities, industries, and workforce development.

Honoring the Legacy of CTE at Arlington Career Center

For more than half a century, the Arlington Career Center (ACC) has stood as a cornerstone of innovation, opportunity, and hands‑on learning within Arlington Public Schools (APS). As we celebrate CTE Month, we recognize not only the programs that shaped generations of students, but also the new pathways preparing today’s learners for tomorrow’s careers.

Founded in 1974, the Arlington Career Center began as a bold experiment: a place where students could learn real skills, earn credentials, and explore career pathways long before “career readiness” became a national priority. Over the decades, ACC has grown into one of the most diverse and dynamic CTE hubs in the region.

Empowering the Future

From its earliest trade programs to its newest high‑tech pathways, the Arlington Career Center continues to shape the future of Arlington Public Schools. CTE Month is more than a celebration — it’s a reminder of the power of opportunity, the importance of hands‑on learning, and the lasting impact of preparing students for real careers, real skills, and real futures.
