Database Design & Management

An optional extension to the Computer Programming pathway, after year 1.

Students earn 6 college credits and can take an industry certification in Database Design and Management using SQL (Structured Query Language).

Focuses on understanding the “data-to-knowledge lifecycle” – including data collection, data warehousing, analytics, and presentation of findings. Students also optimize databases for connection to modern full-stack web applications, and interact with databases using Python ORMs (Object-Relational Mappings).

This course is designed to emphasize open-ended projects that adapt to student interest or community projects, so specific skills and projects might vary year-to-year.
